This list will focus first on the study of traditional hymns and
their continuing role in the Church. At the same time, we live in a time
when new hymns and tunes are being created in unprecedented numbers.
This list could serve as a vehicle for discussing poetic and musical styles,
becoming familiar with new work in particular faith communities, and
finding appropriate solutions to matters of language and inclusivity. Ultimately, the group will determine the nature of the discussion and this introduction may need to be revised. The list will be archived and a digest option may be available. We're also looking into a file-sharing facility--more on that later. If you are interested, please send the following message to majordomo@oremus.org subscribe hymns If you know of any interested parties, please let them know. Also, if you are a member of other church music lists, perhaps you could forward this announcement. Thanks.
