D.	THE EUCHARIST FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
	THE PREPARATION
1	A HYMN, A CANTICLE or A PSALM may be sung.
2	One of these SENTENCES may be used. I am the resurrection, and I am the life; those who believe in me, though they die, yet shall they live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. or We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient but the things that are unseen are eternal.
3	The President welcomes the people. The grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. The Lord bless you.
	PRAYERS OF PENITENCE
4	PRAYERS OF PENITENCE are said. This form may be used. Minister God has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of his glory in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. As we acknowledge our human frailty, we call to mind our sins of word, deed and omission, and confess them before God our Father. Silence is kept. Either:
5	Father Eternal, give rof light and grace, we have sinned against you and against our neighbour, in what we have thought, in what we have said and done, through ignorance, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. We have wounded your love, and marred your image in us. We are sorry and ashamed, and repent of all our sins. for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who died for us, forgive us all that is past; and lead us out from darkness, to walk with the children of light. Amen. President: Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in life etrnal; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. or:
6	You raise the dead to life in the Spirit: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. You bring pardon and peace to the sinner: Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. You bring light to those in darkness: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
7	The President says THE COLLECT. Let us pray for the peace and well-being of the whole Church. Silence may be kept. President Eternal God, our maker and redeemer, grant us, with all the faithful departed, the sure benefits of your Son's saving passion    and glorious resurrection that, in the last day, when you gather up all things in Christ, we may with them enjoy the fullness of your promises; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. or Heavenly Father, in your Son Jesus Christ you have given us a true faith and a sure hope. Strengthen this faith and hope in us all our days, that we may live as those who believe in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, and the resurrection to eternal life; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Response: The ransomed of the Lord shall return with singing. 1 The wilderness and the dry land shall rejoice: the desert shall burst into song; 2 They shall see the glory of the Lord: the splendour of our God. The ransomed of the Lord shall return with singing. 3 Strengthen the weary hands: make firm the feeble knees. 4 Say to the anxious: Be strong, fear not! 5 Your God is coming with judgement: coming with judgement to save you. 11	Sit THE SECOND READING At the end the Reader may say This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

16	PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION are said. This form may be used. Minister In peace let us pray to the Lord. Jesus, Bread from Heaven, you satisfy the hungry with good things: grant us a share with all the faithful departed in the banquet of your kingdom. Hear us, risen Lord, pur resurrection and our life. Jesus, the Light of the World, you gave the man born blind the gift of sight and opened the eyes of his faith: bring those in darkness to your eternal light and glory. Hear us, risen Lord, our resurrection and our life. Jesus, Son of the Living God, you summoned your friend Lazarus from death to life: raise us at the last to full and eternal life with you. Hear us, risen Lord, our resurrection and our life. Jesus, Crucified Saviour, in your dying you entrusted each to the other Mary your mother and John your beloved disciple: sustain and comfort all who mourn. Hear us, risen Lord, our resurrection and our life. Jesus, our Way and Truth and Life, you drew your disciple Thomas from doubt to faith: reveal the resurrection faith to the doubting and the lost. Hear us, risen Lord, our resurrection and our life. President May God in his infinite love and mercy bring the whole Church, living and departed in the Lord Jesus, to a joyful resurrection and the fulfilment of his eternal kingdom. Amen.

	THE PEACE
17	Stand Jesus says: Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives give I unto you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. The peace of the risen Christ be always with you. And also with you. A minister may say Let us offer one another a sign of peace. and all may exchange a sign of peace.
	THE PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS
18	The bread and wine are placed on the holy table.
19	The president may praise God for his gifts in appropriate words to which all respond Blessed be God for ever.
20	The offerings of the people may be collected and presented. These words may be used. Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the splendour, and the majesty; for everything in heaven and on earth is yours. All things come from you, and of your own do we give you.
21	At the preparation of the gifts A HYMN may be sung.
	THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
22	The President takes the bread and cup into his hands and replaces them on the holy table.
23	The president uses one of the authorized Eucharistic Prayers with one of these PROPER PREFACES. And now we give you thanks because through him you have given us    the hope of a glorious resurrection; so that, although death comes to us all, yet we rejoice in the promise of eternal life; for to your faithful people life is changed, not taken away; and when our mortal flesh is laid aside, an everlasting dwelling place    is made ready for us in heaven. or And now we give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. In him who rose from the dead our hope of resurrection dawned. The sting of death has been drawn by the glorious promise of his risen life.
	THE COMMUNION
24	THE LORD'S PRAYER is said in one of the following forms. As our Saviour has taught us, in faith and trust we pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those    who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power,    and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. or Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those    who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,    the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
25	The president breaks the consecrated bread, saying Jesus is the living bread which came down from heaven: If anyone eats of this bread, they will live for ever. Lord, give us this bread always.
26	Either here or during the distribution one of the following ANTHEMS may be said. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: grant us peace. or Jesus, Lamb of God: have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sins: have mercy on us. Jesus, redeemer of the world: give us your peace.
27	Before the distribution the president says I am the bread of life, says the Lord; Whoever comes to me will never hunger; Whoever believes in me will never thirst. I am the vine: you are the branches May we dwell in him as he lives in us.
28	The president and people receive the Communion. These words of distribution should be used. The Body of Christ keep you in eternal life. Amen. The Blood of Christ keep you in eternal life. Amen. During the distribution HYMNS and ANTHEMS may be sung. The Alternative Service Book provision is followed for consecration of additional bread and wine and for disposing of what remains.

	A COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
29	Glory and honour and power: are yours by right, O Lord our God; For you created all things: and by your will they have their being. Glory and honour and power: are yours by right, O Lamb who was slain: For by your blood you have ransomed for God a kingdom of priests from every race and language, from every people and nation.
30	The names of those to be remembered may be read aloud. Silence may be kept after each name, or group of names, or after all the names have been read. THESE WORDS are used. This is the will of him that sent me that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, and I will raise them up at the last day.
31	One or more of the three sections that follow (32-34) are used.
32	Lord God, creator of all, you have made us creatures of this earth, but have also promised us a share in life eternal. According to your promises, may all who have died in the peace of Christ share with your saints in the joy of heaven where there is neither sorrow nor pain, but life everlasting. Alleluia! Amen.
33	Either Grant to us, Lord God, to trust you not for ourselves alone, but for those also whom we love and who are hidden from us by the shadow of death; that, as we believe your power to have raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, so may we trust your love to give eternal life to all who believe in him; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. or
*	Give rest, O Christ, to your servants with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. You only are immortal, the creator and maker of all: and we are mortal, formed from the dust of the earth, and unto earth shall we return. For so you did ordain when you created me, saying, 'Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.' All we go down to the dust; and weeping o'er the grave we make our song: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Give rest, O Christ, to your servants with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.
34	This prayer may be said by all. Hear us, O merciful Father, as we remember in love those whom we have placed in your hands. Acknowledge, we pray, the sheep of your own fold, lambs of your own flock, sinners of your own redeeming. Enfold them in the arms of your mercy, in the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and in the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
	THE CONCLUSION
35	A HYMN may be sung.
36	The President may say this prayer. God of love, may the death and resurrection of Christ, which we have celebrated in this eucharist, bring us, with the faithful departed, into the peace of your eternal home. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our rock and our salvation, to whom be glory for time and for eternity. Amen.
37	THE DISMISSAL The President may say one of these BLESSINGS. The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, make you perfect in every good work to do his will; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen. or May God give to you and to all those whom you love his comfort and his peace, his light and his joy, in this world and the next; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.
38	Either Minister Go in the peace of Christ (Alleluia) Thanks be to God (Alleluia) or Minister Neither death nor life can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Thanks be to God. (Alleluia! Alleluia!)
39	The ministers and people depart.
